The Gasa Tshechu is the biggest cultural festival in the small district of Gasa in northwest Bhutan. Gasa is home to highlander communities of Laya and Lunana. While many mask dances are performed, the local folk dances performed are very unique and distinct adding to the festive mood of the celebration.
The great thing about Gasa Tsechu, apart from its remoteness is that you get to see many people from Laya and Lunana villages come here. The dresses and jewellery of women from Laya is particularly unique. Gasa is about three hour drive from Punakha town.
