It seems there’s no stopping Bhutan’s favourite football poster boy. After a spectacular 2017 season in the I-League and his entry into fatherhood last month, Chencho Gyeltshen has now signed with last year’s Indian Super League finalists Bengaluru FC on a one year contract. The announcement comes today after a long courtship by various Indian clubs.

“Bengaluru FC is one of the top clubs in India but more importantly, it has been my dream to play for them and I’m happy that the move has happened. It’s a team with so many experienced players and the aim is to keep learning from them and improving with every passing day at the club,” said Chencho.

At Bengaluru FC, Chencho will be joining the likes of Sunil Chettri, Udanta Singh, and Kean Lewis. With the Bhutanese people already in the grips of World Cup fever, this announcement will come as the perfect icing on the cake. We wish Chencho all the best and hope this Bhutanese Son continues to make us proud!
